Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, former President of Sierra Leone, has long been recognized as a pillar of leadership within the All People’s Congress (APC). However, recent revelations suggest that those he once relied on have placed personal ambitions above party unity, leading to growing concerns about loyalty and internal stability.
Reports indicate that Dr. Samura Kamara, APC’s 2023 presidential candidate, secretly held discussions with President Julius Maada Bio without consulting key party stakeholders. This development has sparked serious questions about transparency and decision-making within the APC.
Additionally, there are claims that Kamara has allowed personal bloggers to attack APC leadership while refusing to publicly denounce them. Despite being confronted by Dr. Koroma, Kamara allegedly denied any involvement with the bloggers but failed to take corrective action.
Further disclosures suggest that Kamara, along with Minkailu, Yansaneh, and Tunis, orchestrated a plan to manage party affairs independently, excluding Dr. Koroma despite his legacy within the APC. Feeling sidelined, the former president has expressed frustration, stating that if decisive action had been taken earlier, the current crisis could have been avoided.
As political tensions rise, the APC faces a defining moment. While Kamara prepares to respond to these allegations, the party and its supporters must reflect on who remains committed to its core values and who has prioritized personal interests over collective progress. Dr. Koroma’s influence within the APC remains significant, but internal divisions now pose a serious challenge to the party’s future.
