A leaked phone conversation has surfaced, allegedly exposing deep divisions within the All People’s Congress (APC) and fueling concerns about internal betrayals following the June 24, 2023, elections.

The recording, purportedly featuring former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, suggests that APC’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dr. Samura Kamara, engaged in private discussions with President Julius Maada Bio without consulting key party stakeholders.

Additionally, the audio claims that Kamara used intermediaries to target certain party members while failing to denounce personal bloggers who made negative remarks about the APC leadership.

In the conversation, Koroma reportedly questioned Kamara about these bloggers, who openly supported him while criticizing the party. Despite Kamara denying any involvement with them, he allegedly never condemned their actions.

Further revelations in the audio point to a meeting involving Samura Kamara, Minkailu, Yansaneh, and Tunis. According to Koroma, these APC figures informed him that Kamara had met with President Bio to establish an internal dispute resolution process aimed at managing party disagreements without external interference.

Koroma maintained that he was no longer the party chairman or presidential candidate and advised APC leaders to handle the matter independently. Expressing frustration, he suggested that a firmer stance after the elections could have prevented the current crisis. He also cited his experience handling political challenges in Kenya and Zambia, emphasizing the importance of unity and strategic leadership.

The leaked audio has intensified debates over APC’s internal stability and leadership approach. As the party proceeds with reforms under an 84-resolution agreement, these revelations further complicate an already tense political landscape.

So far, neither Samura Kamara nor the APC leadership has officially responded to the allegations. However, the claims have raised serious questions about trust, loyalty, and the party’s direction as it prepares for future political challenges.
